Avi Federgreen’s over twenty-five years of experience in the Canadian film industry includes over sixty films produced.
Federgreen’s newly completed films, which are travelling around the film festival circuit include For The Sake Of Vicious directed by Reese Eveneshen and Gabriel Carrer. Current films in release include Things I Do For Money directed by Warren P. Sonoda, Man Running directed by Gary Burns, Lifechanger directed by Justin McConnell, and Altered Skin directed by Adnan Ahmed. Federgreen also is the creator of the Indiecan10K & Indiecan20K First Feature Initiatives that have now helped 8 first features get made in Canada including the NWT film Elijah and the Rock Creature directed by Jennifer Walden and the Northern Ontario film Fugue directed by Tomas Street.
Federgreen’s other producing credits include One Week, Still Mine, Kiss and Cry, Prisoner X, Score: A Hockey Musical, Relative Happiness, How To Plan An Orgy in A Small Town, Moon Point, I’m Yours, Hungry Hills, High Life, Leslie, My Name Is Evil to name a few.
In the Summer of 2019 Federgreen directed his first short film, Red Balloon, which is now travelling the festival circuit and in Fall of 2020 Federgreen directed his first feature film, A Family Seduction for Neshama Entertainment / Marvista Entertainment.
In November 2011, Federgreen opened his own film distribution and sales company INDIECAN ENTERTAINMENT. The company services not just up-and-coming Canadian and International filmmakers, but also those indies making films in a lower budget bracket who have otherwise virtually no chance to shine in a market of big studios, distributors and exhibitors. Indiecan has now released over 150 films in Canada, and over 60 films in the US.
Co-Founder and President Emeritus of Triptych Media, Anna Stratton is a Genie, Gemini and Gemeaux award-winning film producer. From 1992 to 2017 Triptych developed and produced acclaimed film and television productions, distinguished by their originality, character-driven stories and social relevance and featuring stories from some of Canada’s best loved writers and some of the finest actors from Canada and around the world. Stratton’s latest production is the feature film, The Girl King, a Canada-Finland-Germany-Sweden co-production telling the extraordinary story of Sweden’s young and revolutionary Queen Kristina with director Mika Kaurismäki and writer, Michel Marc Bouchard. The Triptych collection includes, Gary Yate’s High Life, with Timothy Olyphant and Paolo Barzman’s adaptation of Matt Cohen’s Emotional Arithmetic with a powerful ensemble cast of Susan Sarandon, Christopher Plummer, Gabriel Byrne, Max von Sydow and Roy Dupuis. Earlier works include Lilies directed by John Greyson based on Michel Marc Bouchard’s renowned play; Falling Angels directed by Scott Smith based on the novel by Barbara Gowdy with a screenplay by Esta Spalding and starring Miranda Richardson; The Republic of Love, a Canada-UK co-production directed by Deepa Mehta based on the Carol Shields novel with a cast including Bruce Greenwood, Emilia Fox, Martha Henry, Jackie Burroughs, Edward Fox and Claire Bloom; The Bay of Love and Sorrows directed by Tim Southam based on David Adams Richards novel; The Hanging Garden written and directed by Thom Fitzgerald and featuring Seana McKenna, Peter MacNeil and Kerry Fox; the documentary As Slow as Possible featuring best-selling author Ryan Knighton and directed by Scott Smith; and John Greyson’s ground-breaking Zero Patience. For television Triptych produced Lucky Girl directed by John Fawcett and written by Graeme Manson featuring Elisha Cuthbert; TheBookfair Murders, a co-production with Germany based on the novel by Anna Porter featuring Genevieve Bujold, Samantha Bond, Linda Kash and Saul Rubinek; The Tale of Teeka (and the French-language version, L’histoire de l’Oie), directed by Tim Southam from the play by Michel Marc Bouchard starring Brent Carver; Oedipus Unmasked, the story of the remounting in 1996 of Oedipus at the Stratford Festival directed by Douglas Campbell based on the 1956 production in which he starred directed by Tyrone Guthrie designed by Tanya Moisewitsch, creator of the thrust stage; Heyday! written and directed by Gordon Pinsent and Love Letters based on the play by A.R. Gurney and directed by Tim Southam with an all-star cast including Sheila McCarthy and Peter Donaldson, Samantha Bee and Jason Jones, Colin Mochrie and Debra McGrath.
Stratton’s introduction to film and television was working with Primedia Entertainment on a series of 8 plays adapted for CBC television entitled Stage on Screen. She worked for performing arts organizations from 1969 to 1991 wearing many hats as a producer, publicist, fundraiser, production manager and consultant and also taught theatre administration at the University of Toronto. She served as Head of English Language Theatre for the Canada Council for the Arts and as a senior policy adviser for the task force on cultural training. She is a graduate of the Canadian Film Centre and served on many boards and committees including the Dance Umbrella of Ontario, the First Night Festival and the Toronto Theatre Festival and acted as a Trustee for the City of Toronto. She is a co-founder of Reel Canada, the festival of films for high schools and of PRO, the Producers’ Roundtable of Ontario. She currently resides in Stratford, Ontario and continues her volunteer service as a member of the Energy and Environment Committee for the City and working on refugee support and environmental issues. She lives with her husband, painter and sculptor, Tom Campbell and they have 2 sons and 3 grandsons.
